Electronic Match Cards - Please Read (2017-08-31) (2017-12-31)

By Iain Southgate

Firstly can I welcome you to the Kent Youth League and I look forward to working with you in the forthcoming season.

Please find attached the 2017/18 match cards and instructions that need to be followed.

Can I ask, that if you have new managers or people who have not sent a match card to the KYL before, that you get them to send a completed match card to their age group gmail address so they can see what is required and I can also point them in the right direction if needed.  Any names and scores can be used on this test card. I will look in the next week to check any cards sent in.

I am here to help you with this process so any questions or problems throughout the season please contact me as I really do not want to be sending fines out as it means more work for me and less funds for your club.

Good luck for the season

No Registered Players and Games Postponed 3rd Sept (2017-08-28) (2017-09-30)

Good Morning All

All clubs were listed and informed last week, if they had not registered players for the season start of next weekend. The League rules are very clear - 14 days before the start of our season (by 20th August).

The following teams have not yet registered any players so their fixtures are suspended with immediate effect. Teams involved this Sunday 3rd September will now have their games postponed.

Until I am informed by Bill and Marilyn Kelly our Registration Secretaries, the fixture suspension will remain. Teams expecting to play on Sunday 10th, need to have their players registered by Friday 5pm this week otherwise they will not be playing on 10th.

From Ken - Please Read (2017-08-20) (2017-08-31)

There are a number of things that you need to take note of please as we head to the first weekend of the season.

1.       We have been informed that Kennington have withdrawn their Under 18 Premier South team from the constitution for the new season.

2.       We have also been informed that Tonbridge Angels have withdrawn their Under 18 South team from the constitution for the new season.

Both clubs will be fined in accordance with the rules.

Greenwich Borough will receive a bye in the KitToFit Challenge Cup, and the winners of Ashford United or Ramsgate will receive a bye.

The website will be updated shortly.

Fixtures for the 3rd September have been cast now for a considerable time. After Sunday, the League will accept NO requests for any changes to the fixtures so please ensure the details are correct. If you don't have your ground available and you have been given a game, you should urgently contact your fixture secretary for a postponement .

By Sunday please remember you must have at least 11 players registered for the season ahead.

The Referee team will be putting the Referees appointed to games for the 3rd on the website after Sunday. Please can you remember if you are the home team to send your match confirmation to your opponents and Referee 7 days before the fixture - thank you.

Please copy your age group fixture secretary and Adam Back.

We have two clubs who are still having difficulties getting their Affiliation through and both from Surrey FA. West Wickham and Junior Elite are the teams, and both clubs are given until next weekend (26th August) to get the number through.

It is an FA rule that you have to be affiliated to a County Association to commence fixtures, so if we do not receive the numbers then both West Wickham, and Junior Elite fixtures will be postponed until the affiliation comes through. If you are due to play these teams then you will be advised by the fixture secretary if your game is postponed.

Ken

Harry Phillips - New Assistant Referee Secretary (2017-08-20) (2017-08-31)

Following on from last night's interviews, I am delighted to announce that we have appointed Harry Phillips as the League's new Assistant Referee Secretary who replaces Iain in this role.

It was a unanimous decision by all 3 of the interview panel, but we were very fortunate to have 3 excellent candidates.

I am sure you will all make Harry very welcome.

Match Day Procedures (2017-08-20) (2017-09-30)

My thanks to those of you who attended last Thursday. I thought I would send out to you to pass on to your Team Managers the attached powerpoint which may be of use to them to ensure that they are getting things right.

Can I reiterate the point that I made on Thursday :

1.       Teams to swap team sheets ahead of kick off.

2.       Team Managers to check the team sheet against the PLAYER ID which each player should have.

3.       If there are any discrepancies then please deal with at the time.

4.       If a team has NO player ID cards then you call each player over and separately ask them for their date of birth.

5.       After the match you must send a copy of the electronic matchcard to your opponents and so please check it is correct against the team sheet.

6.       Any match card queries to be sent to iain.southgate@kentyouthleague.co.uk

All clubs to note that if a player is shown a red card this season - the suspension will take place 7 days after the card as opposed to 14 days which it has been for the last few seasons.

Please ensure this is sent on to all Managers and Coaches.

Ken

League Footballs (2017-08-20) (2017-08-31)

League Rule 10 (C) (iv) states that all matches must be started with a ball recommended by the League.

This season, I have tried with both KitToFit (Nike) and Europa Sports (Mitre) to secure an exclusive deal for the League which would have included at least 1 free football. In both cases neither Mitre or Nike were prepared to support this.

Therefore instructions to all clubs and teams is that we would want you to use a quality match ball from either Mitre or Nike please.

Attached are the deals that Europa and KitToFit are offering themselves to teams and clubs.

You will also note that on the home page of the website you will see two footballs (one Nike and one Mitre). If you click on one of the balls, it will take you to either KitToFit or Europa s website.

I have been selected to attend an event at Wembley by the FA on 21st September to get involved in a focus group with Nike. I will be expressing the need for us to be able to offer something going forward, but for the time being, I hope that you can use either supplier for your needs.

Sevenoaks Town U14s Assistant Manager Required (2017-08-08) (2017-08-31)

Sevenoaks Town FC U14's (2017/2018) are looking for an Assistant Manager to join their setup.

The role ideally suits a Level 2 or UEFA B qualified coach with experience of coaching eleven-a-side teams at a high level.

The team train on Monday and Thursday evenings with matches on Sundays. The minimum weekly commitment required would be at least one midweek training session and match days although attending both midweek training sessions would be preferable. The team train on the club's new 3G pitch at Greatness Park and matches are typically played on grass at Sevenoaks School or Greatness Park.

This will be the team's second season in the Kent Youth League. The team is technically very capable but they took a while to adapt to the physicality of the league in the first half of last season. However, they gradually found their feet and finished the season strongly, winning six out of their last nine games since the middle of March. The team recently went on tour to Portugal to train with and play against Sporting Lisbon's Academy, which follows previous trips to Holland and France and the plan is to travel to Spain next year to train with and play against another European Academy.

Sevenoaks Town FC run nearly sixty teams from U7's to the First Team making it one of the biggest grassroots clubs in Kent. The club's First Team play in the Southern Counties East Football League and have ambitions of gaining promotion to the Ryman League in the next few years. The club also has further development plans for Greatness Park including a new clubhouse which will complement the recently installed 3G pitch.

For more information or to express an interest in the role, please contact Sam Lansdale via samlansdale@gmail.com or 07809 403 688.

Referee Courses (2017-05-07) (2017-08-31)

If you know of anyone who is perhaps coming to the end of their playing career, who wants a new outlook within the game, or perhaps a family member who could benefit from the fantastic opportunities officiating can provide then would you be kind enough to pass on the information below? Even if they have not expressed an interest, I would be grateful if you could perhaps ‘plant the seed'! We are also running an incentive scheme for new Candidates, whereby the course can be potentially discounted to just £50.

In order to qualify to attend a Referee Course, the ‘Get into Refereeing' Workshop is a pre-requisite and forms Unit 1 of the Course. All Candidates who are 17 and under MUST attend with a Parent/Guardian, and the Parent/Guardian must remain for the duration of the Workshop. In order for a Candidate to book onto a ‘Get into Refereeing' Workshop, then simply click on the relevant link below and scroll down to the bottom of the page. They must enter their own FAN number, or create one if they do not have one. If you are booking on behalf of somebody else, please ensure you enter the details of the Candidate who wishes to enrol onto the course, and not your own! Dates/Venues are as follows;

Monday 15th May 2017 - in Dartford, 7pm Start (Specifically geared towards supporting Female Recruitment and Participation)

Thursday 18th May 2017 - in Canterbury, 7pm Start

Thursday 08th June 2017 - Kent FA HQ, 7pm Start

Monday 03rd July 2017 - in Tonbridge, 7pm Start

Thursday 13th July 2017 - in Thanet, 7pm Start

Thursday 10th August 2017 - in Canterbury, 7pm Start

Wednesday 16th August 2017 - in Folkestone, 7pm Start

Each space costs £10, with payment being made through the online booking link only. All workshops subject to run, providing a minimum number of Candidates enrol. Referee Course dates WILL NOT appear on our website, but dates and venues will be provided only to those who successfully attend. Only those who have attended a workshop will be permitted to enrol onto a Referee Course. Referee Courses will commence from July 2017, through until November 2017, and will be throughout the County.

As a side note, if Candidates are still playing, they may need to make a decision as to whether they continue to focus on this route in football, or indeed sacrifice this to focus on being a referee; it is difficult to balance both commitments. Whilst we do encourage players to ‘take up the whistle', we expect all trainee referees to sign up to a League as we will be looking to appoint them to League games during their training period.

See attached flyer

Kind Regards

Nick
